The ARTOLIO project, which helps the small extra virgin olive oil farmer from the Mediterranean basin, which belongs to the European Union ENI CBC MED program, will promote a healthier gastronomy at the III International Symposium organized by the Yale University on Olive Oil and Health and at the IV International Congress on Olive Oil, Olive Oil and Health

La University of Jaén (Spain), partner of ARTOLIO, is also co-organizer of 3rd Yale International Symposium on Olive Oil and Healthwhich was initiated by the Yale University. Its objective is to highlight the importance of the circular economy, the importance of olive oil for both health and bioeconomy and the effect that olive oil has on the detriment of diseases such as colon cancer and mental health problems. The project ARTOLIO, with the collaboration of its partners, the mills and the expert partners of the project, is presented as a representative of the three-day symposium on behalf of olive oil producers and farmers.

 

The event will take place from December 9th to December 12th and will be attended by:

  • Manuel Parras Rosa/Vasilis Vasiliou/Tassos C.Kyriakides Margaritis Schinas (Vice-Chairman of the European Commission responsible for the protection of the European lifestyle).
  • Carolina Darias San Sebastián (Ministra de Sanidad española).
  • Juan Manuel Moreno Bonilla (President of the Junta de Andalucía).
  • Abdellatif Ghedira (Executive Director of the International Olive Council (IOC)).
  • Francisco Reyes Martínez (President of the Provincial Council of Jaén).
  • Eric J Velázquez (President of the Department of Cardiology of the Faculty of Medicine of Yale).
  • Juan Gómez Ortega (Rector of the University of Jaén).

Conferences on olive oil and health, bioeconomy and circular economy, agriculture and climate change and marketing and food will be held during the course of the sessions. Pescados, mariscos, conservas y todo sobre el mar

The project involves members of the Mediterranean countries of Israel, Greece, France, Cyprus, Palestine and Spain. ARTOLIO is coordinated by Agricultural Research Organization (ARO Volcani Center and partners from the Beit Hakerem Cluster – Israel), Palestinian Center for Agriculture Research and Development (Palestine) American Farm School Post-Secondary Educational and Training Association (Greece) Hellenic Agricultural Organization DEMETER (Greece) Department of Agriculture – Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment (Cyprus) University of Jaén (Spain), University of Corse Pasquale Paoli (France) and Kellenfol Advertising SL (Spain).

ARTOLIO is funded by the European Union under the ENI CBC Med Program. It has a total budget of 2.9 million euros, with 90% of the funding provided by the European Union (2.6 million euros).
