Fenugreek seeds can be also used in the treatment of malaria. About 5 grams of fenugreek seeds can be soaked in water overnight. This water can be taken early in the morning in an empty stomach. One tablespoon each of raisins and ginger can be crushed and put in 200 ml of water for an hour. Boil this solution for some time. Khichadi can be prepared along with spices like cumin seeds, coriander, turmeric, ginger etc. For the treatment of malaria, cow milk can be taken in small amounts several times a day. The patient should be provided with plenty of water, fresh fruit juices and a well balanced diet. Fluid diets are best for the person suffering from malaria. Patient should be given plenty of rest. They should avoid exposure to extreme heat or cold, exertion, exercise, mental stress, sexual activities and other physical activities.

Malaria can be prevented by protecting ourselves from the mosquito bites. Surrounding should be kept clean in order to avoid mosquitoes from breeding there. Small amount of whole grain breads and biscuits can be taken along with milk. Food items that can be easily digested can be taken. When the disease is spreading in your area, you can wear covered clothes to prevent mosquito bites. You can sleep in an air conditioned or well screened room to protect yourself from the mosquito bites.

Green leafy vegetables can be included in large amount in the diet of the person infected by malaria. Mosquito nets and repellent creams can be used to prevent mosquito bites. Children’s bed should especially be screened with net to prevent mosquito bites. Egg plant, cooked radish, bitter guard and barley water can be included in the diet of the patient.
