The food and beverage industry, which accounts for 11 per cent of global GDP, is also responsible for the consumption of 30 per cent of world energy and 22 per cent of greenhouse gas emissions, according to UN data. Food 4 Future – Expo Foodtech, the innovation and technology reference event for the food and beverage industry professionals to be held at the Bilbao BEC from 17 to 19 May, will analyze the reformulation of the production processes and business models of the industry in search of more sustainable systems to reduce the carbon footprint in the food sector, among other challenges it faces.

F4F2022 will bring together a broad representation of foodtech ecosystem companies in which sustainability is already a key strategic axis for achieving a carbon neutral industry. All of them will reveal their actions and strategies aimed at reducing emissions, boosting energy efficiency, developing environmentally friendly packaging, enhancing collaboration with local suppliers, or how technology can help advance climate improvement and food security, among other issues.
