The 16th Herbalife Nutrition Healthy Habits Panel analyzes every year the lifestyles of the Spanish population in terms of health, food, physical activity and personal care. More than 2,000 people surveyed give a key data: this year the food has been healthier and homeier

Almost 6 out of 10 Spaniards claim to have improved their food this year compared to 2019. The reasons are, to a large extent, the increase in cooking time (59%), the increased purchase of fruits and vegetables (59%) and the lower consumption of processed foods (58%). These are some of the conclusions of the Herbalife Nutrition Annual Panel - developed together with the market research company Instituto IO Sondea- which in its 16th edition has placed the focus on the changes of habits of the Spaniards in 2020 versus 2019.

The study was conducted through interviews with a sample of 2,023 people between the ages of 18 and 65 from across the country, selected in proportion to the quotas of sex, age and Autonomous Community according to INE.

The Spaniards have revealed that staying so long at home in 2020 has motivated them to learn new recipes (65%), buy more fresh products (63%) and look more at food composition and labeling (53%), aspects that affect the overall quality of nutrition.

More activities at home and less leisure
Eight out of 10 Spaniards claim to have eaten more at home and reduced gastronomic outputs
this year compared to 2019. They have also consumed more leisure at home (73 per cent), and have saved more money (70 per cent), which they previously spent on leisure outside the house. Películas en excelente calidad Full HD

Watch series or movies on streaming platforms (61%), shop online (56%), contact family or friends by phone or social media (52%) and watch informative programs (48%) have been the most common activities that the Spanish have carried out this year.

The consumption has also been triggered. Average spending on the individual purchase basket in 2020 has increased 32 euros compared to 2019, reaching 257 euros per month, while the average monthly spending on gastronomic leisure (bars, restaurants, home food) has decreased by 40 euros a month, up to 82 euros. It is men and people between 35 and 44 years who spend the most on gastronomic leisure.
