  • Boiling: Put some water in a thick bottomed pan and immerse the pre soaked lentils in it. Water level should be two times more than the quantity of lentils. Let the lentils simmer for good 30 minutes on a slow flame. Cooking time varies from 20 minutes to one hour depending on the quality and kind of lentil. You can also pressure cook the lentils for a quick and easy preparation.
  • Lentils Salad: Once your lentils are boiled and are soft and tender, they can be used in a number of ways, the healthier one being a lentil salad. Toss in your favorite lentils or a mixture of various boiled lentils along with some diced vegetables like onions, tomatoes, cucumber. Dress it with lemon juice, salt and seasonings and serve cold as a delicious salad. Sprouted lentils can also be used in salads.
  • Spicy Lentils: As lentils have a little bland flavor; their taste can be enhanced by adding a variety of spices and curry pastes. Sauté chopped onions, garlic and tomatoes in a greased pan, mix well, add spices, salt and seasonings and mix it with your boiled lentils and stir well on a medium heat. Your spicy lentils are ready to be served with boiled rice or breads.
  • Lentils Soup: Lentil Soup can be an extremely healthy food choice for dinner. Cook lentils with vegetables like carrots, beans, tomatoes and onions on a medium flame for a long time. Blend well and add salt and seasonings.
