Instructions

  • To make beer battered chicken you will need one pound skinless boneless chicken breasts, 1 cup refined flour, salt to taste, 1 spoon freshly ground black pepper, pinch of paprika powder, 1 spoon baking powder, 2 eggs beaten, 1 cup beer, and 5-6 spoons oil.
  • Begin by preparing the chicken. Take the chicken breasts and wash them under running water. Pat them dry with a towel and then cut them into strips each ½ to 1/4th inch thick. Add little salt and freshly ground black pepper to the chicken strips and set them aside.
  • Prepare the batter for the chicken. For this take, flour and add the baking powder. Mix well and then add the beaten eggs. Add salt, freshly ground black pepper and paprika powder to the batter and once again mix all ingredients very well. Place the beer in a separate container so that the fizz from the alcohol escapes. This will prevent lumps in the batter and make the batter smooth. Once the foam from the beer vanishes, add the beer to the batter and give it a good stir. The batter must be thick so that the chicken gets nicely coated with it.
  • Dip each chicken strip in the beer batter so that each piece gets completely covered with the batter. Place the beer batter coated chicken strips on a baking tray lined with wax paper. Refrigerate the batter coated chicken strips for an hour or so before frying. This will make the batter stick well to the chicken and will give the batter a crispier texture on frying.
  • To begin frying, take oil in a pan and allow it to get heated. Then add the beer batter coated chicken pieces one by one. Fry till both sides get evenly browned and the outer crust appears crisp. Since we are only shallow frying the chicken you will need to cook the chicken pieces slightly longer so that they get completely done. It is best to shallow fry on medium heat so that the outer coating becomes nice golden and crisp while the chicken inside gets completely cooked while remaining moist and juicy.
  • Remove the fried chicken pieces from the pan and place them on a paper towel to absorb excess oil. Serve these delicious beer battered chicken pieces hot. Ranch dressing or spicy buffalo sauce taste best with beer battered chicken. French fries or sweet potato fries are ideal accompaniments to this delicious fried chicken.
  • You can also add your own variations to this beer battered chicken fry by adding few more spices to the beer batter such as cumin powder, onion powder, etc. You can also coat the beer batter dipped chicken pieces in bread-crumbs if you want them crispier.
