Normon, a Spanish laboratory with more than 80 years of experience and a marked social commitment, has donated more than 117,000 kg of food to food banks from all over Spain to fight the crisis of the coronavirus. This aid is part of the donations program that the company has launched to help those who need it most.
Food banks, which cater to more than 1,200,000 people in need in Spain, are being very punished by this pandemic, as the crisis of the coronavirus has aggravated the needs and shortcomings of the most disadvantaged and has left many families unarmed. Therefore, they are among the few organizations that have not stopped their activity during this confinement.
However, the situation for them is increasingly worrying, as they do not have the necessary resources to ensure the supply of basic supplies that will enable them to maintain the distribution of food through the associated care institutions.
Therefore, Normon has considered it essential to allocate a very important part of his donations to these food banks. According to the words of Jesus Govantes, President of Normon, “We believe that it is essential, at this time, to support the very important assistance work offered by these organizations, ensuring something as essential as that many families that this crisis has left without resources can eat.”
Normon has donated food of first need, such as pasta, creams or cookies intended for an adult audience, as well as an important amount of child food, mainly milks, cereals and pottens.
A significant part of this donation has been made through the Siro Group Foundation, which aims to promote the social integration of vulnerable groups between its founding purposes, and which has made available to Normon Laboratories cost products manufactured by Cerealto Siro Foods, company of its property, a gesture that has been greatly appreciated by the laboratory.
Normon will provide a total of 117,000 kg of food, most of which will be sent to FESBAL, the Spanish Federation of Food Banks. This federation brings together 55 banks, one at least in each province, and it will be the one who takes care that the aid reaches the entire Spanish geography. Another part will be sent directly to the food bank of Madrid, a community in which the headquarters of the laboratory is located, as well as to those of Andalusia and Castilla la Mancha, autonomous communities where the founders of the company are originating and with which Normon is particularly committed.
This action is added to those already made by the company. In addition to the donation of drugs, Normon has sent viseras of protection for the staff of nursing homes, personal hygiene kits for the field hospital mounted at IFEMA facilities in Madrid and has launched a crowdfunding solidarity so that the employees who want to make their contribution.
