Donostia-San Sebastián, June 10, 2019. A new Gipuzkoa Polyclinic Health Classroom will be held on Thursday, 13 June, at 7.30 p.m. in the Aquarium Acts Hall of San Sebastian. The specialists in Aparato Digestivo Juan Ignacio Arenas and Francisco Zozaya, together with specialists in Digestive Surgery, Javier Murgoitio and José Luis Elósegui, will impart the Health Classroom under the title “Obesity: What can I expect from surgical solutions?”
The new Comprehensive Obesity Unit of Gipuzkoa Polyclinics and the Quirónsalud Donostia Day Hospital has a multidisciplinary team consisting of endocrinologists, specialists in digestive tract, psychologists, nutritionist, sports physician, digestive surgeons and specific patient care staff.
“Patients present in our consultations are people who have been on pharmacological diets and treatments for many years. They are often not considered sick and tired of hearing that they are obese because they want,” says Javier Murgoitio, a general and digestive surgeon of the Comprehensive Obesity Unit.
“The operations we perform in the Unit are minimally invasive and we achieve not only that the patient decreases his overweight, but, in turn, 90% improves in arterial hypertension, 99% in sleep apnea, 55% in type II diabetes mellitus and 80% in hyperlipidemias. All patients receive personalized attention and are accompanied throughout the process by a prestigious multidisciplinary team that puts at their disposal 4 slimming programs: Weight Loss through Sports Medicine, Intragastric Ball, Endoscopic Apollo Technique and Bariatric Surgery. The Health Classroom speakers are responsible for carrying out these last two programs.
The Apollo Endoscopic Technique is a minimally invasive stomach reduction method that is performed by mouth, using endoscopy, which does not require surgery and does not leave external scars.
