RealVegy, a Spanish company in the vegan food-tech sector, has made a donation of 3,000 food rations 100% vegetables to the Valencian Association of Charity, Associació Àmbit and Jesuit Service to Migrants Spain, thus advancing in its common goal of making the vegan options accessible to the most vulnerable groups with a commitment to donation of 10,000 vegan burgers.
The Spanish brand RealVegy, with American founders, wants to expand the supply of vegan foods to the most needy. This donation is made in September following the American tradition of ‘Hunger Action Month’ (Mes de acción contra el hambre). The Hunger Action Month, which takes place every month of September, is a campaign designed to raise awareness of poverty caused by hunger in the USA. U.S.
Esther Lozano Muñoz, CMO de RealVegy says: “We are just an emerging company that has just launched vegan products recently, but we appeal to all companies with products plant-based to join the efforts and example of the month of action against hunger and to contribute to their community during the month of Action against Hunger. Only together can we create a better world.”
The rise in unemployment driven by COVID-19 has made many people struggling to bring food to their homes. In addition, foods of high nutritional value, as well as plant products remain inaccessible to many of the most vulnerable groups. One study revealed that homeless people's diets are rich in calories, fats and cholesterol. Many of the traditional sources of help to homeless people cannot adapt to different dietary needs, and many people do not have access to 100% vegetable options, or allergen-free products such as gluten or soy.
Referring to the donation, the CEO and founder of RealVegy, Scherezade Muñoz, states: “We work towards our shared goal of creating a more equitable and ethical future for both the planet and the most needy. And this is only achieved by making 100% vegetable options 100% accessible to all.”
“Everyone should be entitled to a vegetarian or vegan meal, for environmental, animal, religious, health or any other reason or belief that they may have,” Scherezade adds. With this donation, RealVegy demonstrates that offering meals for different diets, being healthy, nutritious and vegan at the same time is possible. They are also committed to combating hunger, an objective that they share with the United Nations-led initiative: SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals).
This month, RealVegy also launches 6 new products made with pea protein such as Curry Vegetal, Chili sin Carne, Plant Ragú, Plant Parmentier, Vegetable Spins, and Taco Mix Plant. Available in trays to heat and serve. This makes it easy to eat vegan and healthy. All RealVegy products are lactose free, soy, GMO, egg and gluten.
