According to a survey conducted by the company, 82% of women and 70% of men are affected by emotions in their food behavior, so it is important to keep them in mind to improve their habits.
The CoCo, the startup of conscious consumers that helps users to know and interpret the nutritional information that appears in the containers of different foods, presents its new nutritional coaching service “Make your diet work”, in collaboration with Nutritional Coaching, expert consultant in nutritional advice, coaching and sports nutrition. According to Harvard University, nutritional coaching is achieving clinically relevant results and therefore it is important to consider it in weight reduction processes.
A survey* conducted recently by El CoCo shows that 82% of women and 70% of men ensure that they feel affected by emotions at the time of eating, with anxiety 52%, stress 43% and boredom 40% that most alter food behaviors. All emotions affect women more than men, except joy (men say they eat more than women when they are happy).
And it is that, when it comes to losing weight, it is proven that if the user puts all the time the focus on his weight can end up feeling frustrated, because it is a value that does not control directly but depends on several factors and can fluctuate from one day to another regardless of a proper diet. That is why this innovative program does not monitor the weight, but the behaviors, the coaching is based, precisely, on training behaviors to reorient the behavior towards desired results.
“We have realized that, while most users know the healthy food base (eat fruits and vegetables, avoid ultraprocessed, etc.), they often do not apply this theory on a day-to-day basis by barriers such as stress, lack of time, environment, little desire to cook... It's like quitting, theory is easy but applying it is complicated. We cannot ignore the weight of day to day and emotions to improve our habits. The aim of this new service is to help them lose weight thanks to a scientific evidence-based method that links nutritional education and motivation strategies,” says Bertrand Amaraggi, co-founder of El Co. alimentosricosen.es
Make your diet work consists of a ten-week program based on the premise that the key to weight loss is not in the fashion diet or in burnt products, but in carrying a healthy lifestyle that includes a conscious diet, a good emotional balance and the practice of physical activity according to the age and condition of each person. Users who are discharged in the program will receive educational content every day, their feeding plan, exercises to increase their motivation and calm stress, in addition to healthy recipes. In addition, they will be accompanied online at all times by a nutritionist who will guide them in the goal of finding their healthy weight.
“We’re not going to ban anything, that’s something we don’t like, but we’re willing to teach and decide for themselves on the best to achieve the goals. Food conduct experts say it's not enough to know what a healthy diet is to bring it into practice, and you must be willing to commit to it. We are sure that those who try it will be able to change the chip this time and see the process from a different perspective,” concludes Yolanda Fleta Co-founder Nutritional Coaching.
The beta version of the program has had 2,500 users, and the company expects to reach 10,000 by the end of 2022.
The only app incorporating WHO recommendations
CoCo is the only nutritional application based on exclusively scientific criteria and incorporates the recommendations of the World Health Organization (WHO) regarding child feeding to help consumers interpret the nutritional information that appears in the packaging of food products. Its algorithm offers its own innovative score 0 to 10, where 0 is a product little or nothing acceptable in a healthy diet, and from 8 it would be advisable. In order to achieve this, it combines various scientific works and scales already existing, contrasted and recognized by the professional community for their usefulness and rigor: the WHO nutrient profile for different categories of food, the NOVA system based on the level of food processing and the Chilean government's warning system.
