Mutua Montañesa has carried out the celebration of the 50th anniversary of her hospital in Santander, which has been attended by representatives of the Cantabrian Government and which has been congratulated by the mayor of the city. An event in which the history of the center has been reviewed, its current consolidation as an innovative hospital, and its plans for the next few years
Montañesa, a mutual collaborator with Social Security number 7 and with more than a century of life dedicated to the management of the occupational health of its protected companies and workers, today celebrated the commemorative event of the 50th anniversary of the Hospital Mutua Montañesa de Santander.
The event has taken place in the meeting room of events in the hospital, attended by the highest representatives of the entity, headed by its president, Luis Miguel García Rodríguez, and its managing director, Alberto Martínez Lebeña. Together with them, members of the regional government, such as Paula Fernandez Viaña, Minister of Presidency, Interior, Justice and External Action, and Raúl Pesquera, Minister of Health. Also, personalities of different spheres of society, together with mutualists, representatives of other mutuals and AMAT. In addition, the mayor of Santander, Gema Igual, wanted to be present at the Mutua event through a virtual congratulation.
During the event, there has been an opportunity to take stock of the five decades of history of the center, since its inauguration in 1972, and show the main facilities of a center that has become the region and at the national level. Various testimonies of hospital staff have also been shown, which have offered the most humane part of the event.

The president of Mutua Montañesa, Luis Miguel García Rodríguez, has been satisfied at all times by the milestone that the entity has achieved: “We are very proud of the hospital and, above all, of his team, for the work that is done with our patients. It is time to thank those who have maintained, over five decades, a spirit of excellence and service.” And he has highlighted two essential attributes of the Mutua Montañesa Hospital. “The human team, the heart of where passion for learning and professionalism comes from. The mayor of the city, Gema Igual, also wanted to congratulate the center for the new half-century stage: “My congratulation is on the part of the entire city for an unblemished career caring for the health of the workers. And thank you for your commitment to CSR, with which you also return to society part of what you received. You are a very dear mutual for the Cantabris and the Saint Giants.”
For his part, Paula Fernández Viaña, Minister of Presidency, Interior, Justice and External Action, referred to the origins of Mutua Montañesa, when 22 partners, almost all miners, assumed the germ of the entity “thanks to its union and its solidarity commitment”. He stressed that the 23,000 workers of the Government are protected by the Mutua and the hospital. “But not only here, in your land, but you have taken your good work to the rest of Spain and have become ambassadors of our land.”
As a colophon of the event, we have discovered the commemorative plaque that will record for the posterity of this fact as important for Mutua Montañesa as is the 50th anniversary of the center.

50 years of continuous evolution at the service of the Cantabrian society
In these 50 years of history, the Hospital Mutua Montañesa has been evolving and improving its care and quality, in part thanks to its constant improvement culture that can be moved in an improvement in its processes and facilities.
Thanks to this, and to the commitment of the direction of the center for the technology they currently offer innovative services among which the magnetic resonance of 1.5 teslas stands out, which allows to carry out much more accurate diagnostics; the biomechanical laboratory, where to monitor certain parameters to determine the state of the functional valuation of a patient; works with stem cells, with the aim of obtaining a recovery by the patient much more efficient; the use of a CT (tom)
As for the medical teams, the hospital has established as a routine the periodic clinical sessions among the different professionals of Mutua Montañesa, with the aim of making a common and analysis of different cases, and to exchange and consensual clinical decisions that help to resolve them.
As summarized Alberto Martínez Lebeña, Managing Director of Mutua Montañesa: “Many generations have given the best of themselves to get what is today a top-level hospital and with the best equipment possible.
