Starting the day with a good breakfast or taking a break in the afternoon with a snack that contains the necessary nutrients is essential to lead a healthy life and a complete diet in this New Life that has left the health crisis that has been living since the beginning of the year.
It is at a very complicated time throughout Spain, so it is appropriate to promote healthy living habits that contribute to maintaining and improving the lives of people at this time, in which health care should be one of the main concerns.
The energy contribution of a balanced and nutrient-rich diet achieves proper performance in the tasks that await during the day and will help not feel weak or hungry over the next hours. Thus, nutrition experts have shown that this food improves the quality of food and physical and intellectual performance, and helps distribute daily energy, regulate appetite and prevent obesity.
Breakfast and snacks should contain basic nutrients such as carbohydrates, proteins, fats and fiber to improve the organism and get the energy needed to cope with the day and also other micronutrients necessary to maintain cell functions such as vitamins and minerals. Therefore, essential foods are: dairy products, extra virgin olive oils, bread, whole grains, nuts, coffee, prepared seasonal meats and fruit, which can be consumed supplementally in the form of juice.
As Javier Aranceta, president of the SENC Scientific Committee and coordinator of NVA, says, “fruit juices contain a very important contribution of water, vitamins, numerous nutrients and other biocomponents such as hesperidine, potassium and folate, which are the perfect allies to cope with the long daily routines and, above all, for people to find themselves strong physically and eagerly to address these difficult days.”
A glass of fruit juice a day can be part of as an extra complement of one of the five daily rations of fresh fruit and vegetables recommended in a healthy and balanced diet. In this way, including it in food through one of these meals contributes to the recommended daily intake of these nutrients, as well as being a source of hydration, as the juices have a high water content.
“It is undoubted that the rich, pleasant and complete breakfasts and snacks in nutrients are suitable to cope with the general discouragement that exists today and provide the energy needed to cope with much of the day with vitality,” recalls Dr. Aranceta.
