All surveys indicate that companies that can do so will install telework certain days a week once this pandemic ends
In March last year many workers were forced to radically change their labor habits and thousands of offices and workplaces were left deserts, giving way to a massive teleworking implantation. Companies and employees who could do so installed telework, generating a new scenario that brought with it many advantages, but also some difficulties.
In addition to the obvious importance of staying at home in order to avoid the expansion of the Covid-19, teleworking served to demonstrate that work is possible and to show the advantages of suppressing thousands of daily displacements, both for personal well-being and for the environment.
However, throughout this year, undesirable effects of telework have also been revealed, such as difficulties in maintaining the motivation of the teams and the links between people due to the isolation of each worker, the loss of collaborative learning, the difficulty of disconnecting from work, the excess of sedentarism, postureal and eye overload, or the physical and emotional fatigue that accumulates over the course of the months.
In this regard, experts advise to maintain a stable routine that helps to separate the working day from private life. First, a specific, comfortable, organized and well-lit workspace should be created. This will allow you to work without distractions and disconnect more easily at the end of the working day. Another important aspect is to establish time routines similar to those performed in the face work, programming the necessary rests throughout the day and the time of completion.
In this sense, the doctor Javier Aranceta, coordinator of New Food Life explains that “within this daily programming it is key to organize our food, the breaks to eat, hydrate us and the menu. In this way, we will avoid improvising and this can lead us to unbalanced or unhealthy diet.” Guia y trucos de Zoom
From New Food Life a decalogue of healthy habits to face telework, which can help to normalize working days at home through a series of guidelines that will help improve the habits acquired in these months and to improve the mood and health for the future. And it's not just about food issues, which must be regularized and with fixed schedules, but also included in this document some advice regarding the physical activity to be carried out and other aspects related to ergonomics and the environment where the “new office” is located.
For the doctor Rafael Urrialde, professor at the Complutense University of Madrid, “during the work at home, it is essential to change the position and get up from the chair every 45-60 minutes, performing stretch exercises. Also trying to keep meetings or telematic connections with the coworkers, being integrated into the emotional relationships at work makes the mood stay in a more appropriate way, both physical and emotional balance is important to keep them during periods of time, more or less long, in which the work activity is carried out from home.”
Through the web of New Life through the Food, (www.nuevavida.life), you can find information, advice and supporting materials with which this initiative aims to help the population maintain a good food profile, based on health, in the Mediterranean lifestyle; without forgetting the usual moderate physical activity, which will help improve the emotional situation.
