A report by Herbalife Nutrition highlights that the Spanish population considers their favorite moments of the day to be those related to sedentary activities at home

Although sport and regular exercise occupy an increasingly prominent place in daily routine, the Spanish remain essentially sedentary people. This is one of the results obtained from the Herbalife Nutrition report on the healthy habits of the Spanish. The survey was conducted to 1,100 men and women between 18 and 55 years of different autonomous communities.

 

The Spaniards like “nesting”, a term of English origin (nest, nest) that alludes to the happiness experienced at home performing mostly sedentary activities. Almost 27% of respondents said their favorite time of the day is when they shower in the morning. In the second position, with 23%, there are those who prefer to relax at night on the sofa watching a series or similar. In both cases, these activities are carried out in the comfort of the home and require minimal physical activity.

The detected trend coincides with the figures shown by the audiovisual sector, and in Spain, more than 7 hours per day are spent on television content and other devices (Source: Statista). Still, below the Americans, they invest about 12 hours a day.

Outdoor activities or activities involving out-of-home displacements go to a background. In fact, only 17% of the respondents placed as their preferred time of the day making plans with friends or family and -if any kind of physical activity is concerned - only 11% were inclined to do sport.

In addition, those who practice sport regularly do it at home (38%), instead of going to the gym or practicing sports routines in open spaces.
