72% ensure that their stress has been increased as a result of concern over the economic crisis, the health situation, work or family. On average, a little more than a pound and a half has gotten fat. More medicated, 46% consume anti-inflammatory drugs and prescription painkillers. Four out of ten, especially women and people with low income, has begun to reduce the number of meals and the quality of food consumed. Less sports practice, 3.31h from half to week

The Study on Food and Personal Care Habits 2022 Herbalife Nutrition highlights that 72% of the Spaniards have suffered an increase in stress and, in addition, 4 out of 10 have reduced the number of meals and the quality of food as a result of the economic crisis.

The survey, which every year reflects the customs and customs of food in Spain, has been carried out by interviews with a sample of 2,004 people from all over the country, aged between 16 and 65, selected intentionally and proportionally to the quotas of the Spanish population according to the INE.

After 18 years evaluating the nutrition habits of the Spaniards, the annual research of Herbalife Nutrition, carried out together with the market research company Instituto IO Sondea, shows that the current average weight of the Spaniards has increased 1.6 kg compared to the weight stated in the previous wave.

Stress, the main aggravating
Once again, the socio-economic context is determinant for health, being able to modify not only food habits, but also other healthy life practices such as sports activities.

One of the most relevant issues that are depleted from the survey is the increase in stress among the Spanish, the result of the current situation. In fact, 7 out of 10 respondents claim to be more stressed and 74% attribute it to the economic crisis, including health, work or family.

Thus, it is not surprising that stress positions itself in the first place as a disease or physical situation that the Spanish suffer. It is followed by others such as anxiety (28.24%), hair loss (24.15%) and depression (20.81%). Chistes cortos

As a result, the percentage of Spaniards taking any prescription medication has increased. According to the panel of the study, almost 1 in 4 currently consume analgesics (23.70%), followed almost to the same level of anti-inflammatory drugs (22.21%).

They start diet and sport
The economic crisis has also caused more than 4 out of 10 people (42.66%) to reduce the number of meals and the quality of food consumed. Of the respondents, 22.46% have reduced quality, 11.63% the number of meals and 8.58% both. The main affected are women, persons under 55 years of age, those in the lower social class or those with low monthly income and a level of secondary or basic education.

The change in eating habits has affected the diet: according to the last panel of the Herbalife Nutrition study of 2022, 1 in 4 Spaniards (24.15%) does not have a balanced diet. Figures that follow the previous year's trend, when 21.80% ensured that they did not follow adequate diet patterns.

However, 3 out of 4 Spaniards (75.85%) ensure that a balanced diet, slightly lower than that of the previous wave of 2021, was carried daily, when it was 78.2%. At this point, they are middle- and high-class people, as well as those who have high monthly incomes or have higher studies who make sure to follow a balanced diet.

When asked about the number of hours of sport practiced a week, 2 out of every 3 Spaniards confirm that they practice it once a week (66.67%), a figure that is 3 points below that in the previous wave (69.70%). On average, they practice a total of 3,31 hours a week, descending again from the previous year, when it stood at 3.52. In any case, the young men surveyed, the high social class and those with the greatest income are the ones who spend the most hours a week on physical activities.

The worsening of the diet and the decrease in the dedication of time to sport are two of the factors that have been able to make mellas in the health of the Spaniards. Thus, the Herbalife Nutrition study shows that the average weight has increased by 1.6 kg in comparison to the first wave of the study, being 74.66 kg in 2022 and 73.09 kg in 2021. Men, over the age of 34, middle class people and those with middle studies have been the ones who have pointed out the most weight gain above the global average.
