The company has reduced the weight of its boats and lids, eliminated the plastic bags and optimized its product transport systems to reduce the environmental impact of its operations

The multinational specialized in nutrition and healthy lifestyle, Herbalife Nutrition, collaborates with the Ecoembes non-profit organization in its Plan of Prevention and Good Practices in Ecodesign, through the implementation of policies for recycling materials and packaging throughout its production chain.

For the period 2018-2020 Herbalife Nutrition has launched measures that contribute to reducing the ecological impact in the manufacturing, distribution and sale phases of its products:

Higher capacity transport boxes: The multinational has redesigned and increased the dimensions of its grouping containers (carton boxes), destined to transport the primary packaging of its products. In this way, in the same box it is possible to transport 8 primary containers instead of 6, which allows saving cardboard/paper for each distributed product.

Removing plastic bags in the delivery of products: Previously, the independent members of the company delivered the products to the consumer with a plastic bag. Currently this bag has been removed to save the amount of plastic per product supplied to the customer.

Weight reduction of packaging: 3.68% of the containers of the instant drink have been lightened by a melocoton tea of 50 grams, which passed from weigh 19 grams to 18.3 grams per boat. This measure was implemented even more efficiently in 100 grams boats, weighing 24 grams and now weighing 22.5 grams (-6.25%).

Weight reduction of the lids: Thermo Complete's boat caps went from weighing 9.20 grams to 3.90 grams (57.61% of material savings). Tramites en Ecuador

Optimization of the transport of the boxes: The multinational has improved the internal distribution of its pallets or platforms to allow them to enter 75 boxes of the F1 smoothie - the star product of the brand - instead of the 60 boxes that could transport each palé in the previous distribution.

Incorporation of Recycling Symbol: In a systematic way, Herbalife Nutrition has been incorporating in all its products the Symbol for Recycling, in order to facilitate consumers the identification and proper deposition of packaging once converted into waste.

The implementation of these measures - and others in the study phase - demonstrate Herbalife Nutrition's commitment to recycling, environment and technological innovation and processes to reduce the ecological footprint.
